day to day responsibility for its

oversight.

 

The Rt Rev'd Dr Peter Stuart is the Assistant Bishop of Newcastle &

Chair of the Board of Studies.

 

 

 

The Bishop’s Certificate and Diploma programs have been developed for:

  

  •  All Christians who wish to further their personal learning and discipleship;

   •  Anglicans who preach and teach within the Diocese;

    •  Candidates for Stipendiary Ministry (during the discernment process);

     •  Lay employees in Anglican parishes and organisations;

      •  Authorised Lay Ministers within Parish Ministry Teams;

       •  Diocesan Candidates for Ordained Local Ministry.

 

 

   Bishop's Certificate

 

   There are six courses in the Certificate. They are:

 

•  Mission as Transformation

•  Anglicanism

•  Bible, Culture & Context

•  Being Human & Pastoral Care

•  Liturgy for Life

•  Applied Ethics

 

   Already several Southlakes parishioners have    engaged in this study.  The Rev'd Loy Thompson    graduated in 2008 as the first person from this    parish to undertake the studies.

 

   An additional six people graduated in 2009. They    are:  Bill Derley, Garry Kerr, Dawn Scaramella,    Michael Thompson, Alison Wooden & Elaine Young.

 

   Bob Ison  graduated the Bishop's Certificate this    year.  

 

 

 

 

   Bishop's Diploma

 

   The Diploma has six courses:

 

•  Old Testament

•  Church History

•  The Gospels

•  World Religions

•  Doctrine for Ministry

•  Paul & his Epistles

 

 

   The Rev'd Loy Thompson began the Diploma    studies in 2008 & graduated on 1 August 2009.

 

   Alison, Elaine, Garry & Michael completed the    Diploma in September 2010 and graduated on

   30 October at St Peter's East Maitland.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   The study program includes:

 

•  Learning Weekends at Point Wolstoncroft

•  Teaching Days at Bishop Tyrell College Fletcher

•  Local Group Meetings

•  Writing a Learning Journal

 

 

   Each week the Learning Journal includes:

 

•  Responding to questions in the Course Handbook

•  Writing a 250 word response to the Integrative    Exercise

•  Addressing issues in the Situation Analysis    Handbook
