The Grief Support Group commenced in the parish in 2005 under the guidance of Fr Glen, with Loy and Margot as facilitators.
The group aims to lighten the burden of grief through mutual support in a listening and trusting situation. The people of the Grief Support Group know that there is no time-line for grieving and that it is helpful to have the support of others in coping with the roller-coaster of emotions associated with grief.
The initial Grief Support Program consists of a series of eight meetings which aim to explore different facets of the grieving process.
For those who want fellowship within a grief support context another group has been started. This group is less formally structured than the programmed meetings. Usually a topic related to grief is introduced and participants share their thoughts and feelings. Afternoon tea is shared and within the time frame there is time for people to interact with each other at a personal level.
The Grief Support Program is held on the 4th Friday of the month at 2.00 pm. The Grief Fellowship Meetings are held on the 2nd Friday of the month at 2.00 pm
